John Clegg's Superduty Race Cars
(My personal thanks to Ron Noble for his help compiling/supplying photos for this page ...
see Ron's '63 Tempest, and thanks to John and his SD's for making this possible)

John Clegg of Victoria, Texas is a true icon of Pontiac Super Stock racing.
He started racing stock in 1962 and when NHRA officially started Super Stock
he was there,
and has been Super Stock racing ever since.
In those 38 years of racing, John has set many records and
won his fair share of trophies, all
behind the wheel of a Pontiac.

Formula SD455

His present car is a 1973 Formula SD455, 4-speed, one of 11 built. |

He bought the car new and drove it straight from the dealership to the racetrack. It's been
a race car all of it's life. |

A total of 2034 miles have been covered, all done a quarter mile at a time. |

It has evolved over the years and presently is an "A" modified car powered by a killer corporate
big block. It runs 8.40's at 160 mph. |

Trans Am SD455 |

Johns 2nd SD455 is of '74 vintage. This car is driven by his son JB and runs SS/JA, it is capable of
10.30 at over 125 mph. |
This car was Craig Hendrickson and Kern Osterstock's original racecar, better known as
H-O Racing Specialities, Inc. |

It served as a testbed for many of
H-O Racing's Street/Strip parts
and featured in many of their
tech articles.
A lot of history goes with this car. |

It to, still shows low miles with
less than 25k on the
clock |
I personally remember, and still have,
the
ad when H-O put this car up for
sale many years back - Rod

What would finish this page off nicely would be the tech spec of these cars .......
